Great ProductMar 20, 2010
By BJ I was looking for a good quality handheld magnifying glass and I found it. The Carson Remove-A-Lens system is a very nice package. The interchangeable lens system is a great feature, but I am very impressed with the fold-away legs on the handle. Removing a splinter from my finger will no longer be a three handed job! I'll finally be able to do it all by myself and see what I'm doing as well. Two LED's provide more than ample light for the task at hand. Carson also provides a padded storage/travel case with cutouts in the padding to secure each accessory. This is just a top notch handheld magnification system and it was worth every cent paid. I highly recommend it.

Higher Quality ItemAug 20, 2009
By Nicholas J. Tsigounis When I hit 40, I noticed that I needed more light and magnification to see the smaller items. I have been looking for a magnifier for several months. I wanted magnification and a light source all in one. I also wanted a higher quality item, so that it would last longer and perform better. This Carson Remov-A-Lens 3-in-1 LED Magnifier fit the bill. While it is not cheap, you do get what you pay for. I am very happy and would recommend it to anyone who requires some assistance in seeing smaller items.

Great magnification, Lighting not idealApr 29, 2011
By DOmedicalstudent These lenses are great for magnification. I purchased them for my mom as she works on her genealogy projects that involve some very small print censuses and other information. I chose this package because of the different magnification strengths and shapes of the lens (my mother specifically wanted a rectangular lens).
She uses these a lot, but her one complaint is the light. The light is positioned on the back side of the handle, just below the attachment of the lens and is basically angled slightly to illuminate the area the lens is magnifying. Unfortunately, it does not do a great job of illuminating the far side of the rectangular lens, which pretty much makes silly to use the rectangle lens if the light is needed. I think this could be fixed with a relatively simple redesign, but for now it is the best option I could find for a descent price and/or several lens options. My mother has already put it to good use since she received it in December 2010.
Good magnifier solutionJul 30, 2011
By Busy Executive For many years, I walked around with a big (5") glass lens taken from an old overhead projector. It was probably about 3x magnification, distorted horribly - but was easy to stick in a back pocket. Unfortunately, I dropped it on a hard floor, and it shattered.
The Carson is intended to be my replacement. I was skeptical of the acrylic lens design, but it performs at least as well as my old glass lens. Images are notably sharper and more clear than the silly thing I used to carry around.
The handle carries a small LED, letting you put some light on whatever you're looking at. I like that idea, although I'm happier to just use the lenses without the handle most of the time. In fact, I found it a simple matter to take the mounting screw out of the rectangular lens and use it with no handle. Gives me the best of both worlds.
Otherwise, built quality seems good at this price point, everything worked as advertised, and I'd have no trouble recommending this unit to anyone needing a flexible, easy to use magnification solution.
